OCEaN Activities at WindEurope’s 2025 Annual Event in Copenhagen

4 April 2025
For the third year in a row, OCEaN and the Renewables Grid Initiative (RGI) were present at WindEurope’s 2025 Annual Event, which took place in Copenhagen from 8-10 April 2025. We invited all registered attendees of this conference to take part in our activities – which included visiting our stand in the exhibition hall, coming to presentations from OCEaN Members on their collaborative work to reconcile energy and nature at sea, and more!

RGI’s Offshore Team and Members of the Offshore Coalition for Energy and Nature participated in WindEurope’s 2025 Annual Event with a range of activities:

OCEaN Exhibition Stand

OCEaN had a stand in the exhibition hall for all three days of the conference (8-10 April, 2025). Over 300 attendees stopped by our stand (C3-B112) to chat with OCEaN Members and the RGI Offshore Team, where they could explore our ‘Learning Corner’ featuring projects from our Energy & Nature Database, and pick up OCEaN publications and giveaways.

Presentations at Members’ Stands

To highlight the collaborations and projects of OCEaN Members working to advance offshore renewable energy infrastructure and nature protection and restoration, we organised short presentations throughout the conference at the stands of our Members:

April 8 (10:00 – 10:40): ‘The SeaMe Project: A new era in marine environmental monitoring’, held alongside RWE and DFKI, the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (Location: RWE stand | D-H10).

April 8 (11:00 – 11:40): ‘Sustainable Offshore Growth: Reducing impacts on nature, environment and climate’, alongside 50Hertz (Location: Elia Group stand | A-D20).

April 8 (15:00 – 15:40): ‘Bats & Offshore Wind: Collaborative monitoring for science-based mitigation in the Baltic Sea’, alongside Vattenfall (Location: Vattenfall | D-B30).

Side Event

During the conference, OCEaN, RGI, and WindEurope held the side event ‘Beyond Turbines: Powering the future and boosting marine nature‘ from 12:00-15:30 on 9 April. This event explored how policies can be translated into implementation and concrete projects, aiming to find solutions to expand wind energy capacity and to address the climate crisis while bolstering energy security. The side event was divided into two parts and included a networking lunch (see agenda HERE).
