The Renewables Grid Initiative’s ‘Need for Grids’ video series provides a comprehensive and accessible overview of the main aspects of a particular grid-related topic and are useful educational tools for TSOs and NGOs when engaging with the public. The video Offshore wind energy infrastructure and biodiversity was recently published within this series, and explores the ways in which offshore wind infrastructure can exist in harmony with nature, and even be a catalyst for enhanced biodiversity. Clear communication on this topic is increasingly needed as governments and industry prepare to deploy wind energy on a massive scale at sea and strive to meet our climate, biodiversity and energy goals in tandem.
Watch the full video and hear from OCEaN Member’s The North Sea Foundation and TenneT as they outline how to reduce impacts on ecosystems as Europe accelerates the deployment of offshore wind energy and grid infrastructure in marine areas. This video is available in English, German, French, Spanish and Italian.
